Cultivating Immediate Behavioral Change - Leadership by Design

Cultivating Immediate Behavioral Change

A leader who is either unwilling or unable to adopt new behaviors to more effectively manage may encounter tough consequences to include termination. Confidential self-referral with a trusted advisor can help the leader to remove the obstacles preventing him or her from effectively dealing with change so that targeted outcomes are attained.

Developing Emotional Flexibility - Leadership by Design

Developing Emotional Flexibility

Leaders must have the ability to listen, empathize and motivate others to sustain productivity and morale. These skills can be learned. The primary ingredient for being flexible during change efforts in organizations is to balance the use of power with others. Being able to differentiate when you are overly forcing change versus accommodating other points of view is key to their being emotionally agile during the ebbs and flows of change. A trusted advisor can help an executive keep negative ego surges at bay.

Coaching Executives - Leadership by Design

Coaching Executives

Leadership can be lonely. An executive managing a large team or the entire enterprise will often benefit from the discreet and confidential perspective of an experienced executive coach. Leaders By Design can provide the space for a busy and challenged leader to reflect on his or her leadership, strategies, and ideas with a learned advisor.

Managing Change in Role - a promotion, lateral or a new position outside your company

Managing Change in Role

When successfully integrating into a new role, whether a promotion, lateral or a new position outside your company, it can be important to be thoughtful and careful about the transition. A majority of new leaders fail in the first three months of their new role. This can be avoided by taking special steps to understand what your business imperative is and who the key stakeholders are who will contribute to your success. An executive advisor can be extremely helpful in giving objective advice and counsel during these difficult first three months and thereafter. Transitions have different shapes and forms. The other major transition a senior executive can experience is one of being involuntarily let go. Most senior executives have never really looked for a job. An experienced counselor can assist in the preparation, launch and execution of a career transition strategy.

Leading Board Governance - relationships with your board chairperson and Members of the Board

Leading Board Governance

One of the most important relationships a CEO can establish is with his or her board chairperson and Members of the Board. Understanding what their needs are for communication and what their expectations are for performance is critical. Spending enough time nurturing these relationships while running an organization is difficult but nessaccary for success. Likewise, it is important to understand how visible your key staff members need to be with the Board and how important their presentations and presence are. The trusted executive advisor can gather the information that is necessary for a CEO and his team to understand exactly what these expectations and challenges are and provide recommendations for achieving them.
